Lincoln County trade ally sees increased business due to increased incentives
May 20 2009
Don Brown, owner of 151 Corp., knows all too well the influence utility program incentives have on customer decisions to invest in lighting projects. Recently, BPA increased the amount it reimburses Northwest public utilities for conservation from commercial and industrial lighting energy efficiency projects by an average of 48 percent. After learning this, Brown pulled several lighting audits from his files that had been completed for prospective customers but never implemented. He made nine phone calls, explained the increased incentive, and secured nine confirmed projects. "These projects would not happen without these incentives," he said.
The seasoned lighting contractor has been in the business since 1976. A member of the Northwest Trade Ally Network, his current company works primarily in Lincoln County. Working with his wife, Linda, he completes two to five commercial and industrial lighting projects a month. "Lighting upgrades improve a facility's energy efficiency but they also improve the lighting quality, which helps increase business," observed Brown. In a recent upgrade for a furniture store, his customer is thrilled with the energy savings and equally wowed by how new
lighting enhances the store experience for employees and customers.
