Wholesale Distributor Brings Lighting Efficiency to Idaho Customers
Mar 11 2010

With stores in Pocatello and Idaho Falls, D & S Electrical Supply Co. is finding a niche in bringing lighting efficiency to industrial customers in southern Idaho. The 35-year-old wholesale distributor works with utilities and electricians throughout the region to provide information about savings available by investing in high-efficiency lighting. Since the fall of 2007, D & S Electrical has participated in 240 lighting efficiency projects that have saved 16 million kilowatt hours.

D&S Electrical’s Dave Bennett says that businesses are still surprised and sometimes skeptical when he discusses their options and potential savings. “Many business owners or facility managers still think the numbers are too good to be true,” said Bennett. “I provide a list of all completed projects as references and encourage them to call other customers. I also encourage them to talk to their financial adviser about the tax advantages and paybacks. Once the business owner does these things, it is usually an easy decision.”

The real proof is in the results experienced by the customer. Recent projects include lighting retrofits at a food processing plant and a production facility. The production facility installed thousands of high efficiency lamps and ballasts that have generated approximately $3,500 in savings on their monthly power bill. D & S Electrical works closely with the utility customers throughout southern Idaho including Idaho Falls Power, Idaho Power and Fall River Rural Electric Co-op.

“I love working with these customers because I can help provide solutions to needs they sometimes aren’t even sure they have,” said Bennett. Learn more about D & S Electric Supply Co.
