Meet Jason Salmi Klotz, NW TAN Project Manager
Jul 14 2010

Jason Salmi Klotz’ rural farm upbringing set the stage for an interest in the outdoors, environmental issues and energy—passions that eventually led him to BPA and NW TAN. As a philosophy student at the University of Montana, he considered two directions: law school or theology. His connection to the outdoors pushed him towards a career in energy and environmental law, and a degree from the Vermont Law School—where he may have been one of few law students also raising pigs, chickens and horses.

Prior to joining BPA, Klotz worked in energy policy for the California Public Utiliies Commission. Family, and a job opportunity at BPA lured him to Portland where he became BPA project manager of the nation’s largest Smart Grid demonstration project. Recently, he took on the role of NW TAN project manager, where he’ll be point person on the network for both trade allies and utilities. “NW TAN is a great resource for the region as we look to lighting efficiency as one of the ways we can achieve our very challenging conservation goals set by the Northwest Power Planning Council.”
