Summer Summit Brings Utilities Together To Share Ideas
Jul 14 2010
The second annual NW TAN Summer Summit brought more than 45 attendees together from 23 utilities, BPA and other organizations to discuss ideas, trends, technologies and ways to improve the trade ally network program. The one-day event held in mid-June was designed as a forum in which utilities could share successes, innovations, discuss challenges and possible solutions.
The T12 to T8 conversion was a major topic of discussion, with a handful of manufacturer reps on hand to offer more information about products, conversion timing and federal regulations. A highlight of the discussion came from Seattle City Light, which talked about its recent incentive program surrounding the conversion, the challenges they faced and lessons learned from the campaign.
Additionally, NW TAN’s Doug Oppedal talked more about LEDs and ballasts, and BPA gave a demonstration of its new lighting calculator.
“The summit was well received by everyone in attendance,” said Mike Porter, manager, NW TAN. “It is an excellent opportunity for us to discuss how things are going, what we can do to make improvements and examine the big issues that utilities have in common.”
